The market value of a motorhome mainly depends on the brand, model, year of manufacture, mileage, technical condition, and demand in the second-hand market. Factors such as maintenance history, available accessories, and the presence of moisture damage or accident damage also influence the price. A recent inspection and a complete service booklet can significantly increase the chances of sale and the value.
Additionally, the region plays a role: in Belgium, we see a stable demand for compact semi-integrated models for couples, while large American models often attract fewer common buyers. The season also influences the price; in spring, demand is traditionally higher, which can be a favorable time to sell. Those who have their motorhome professionally appraised avoid disappointments and get a realistic picture of the proceeds.
Making a reliable estimate yourself is difficult because every motorhome is unique. Still, there are a number of fixed factors you can check to get a first indication. Brands such as Hobby, Bürstner, Hymer or Pilote generally retain more value than less well-known manufacturers, while a poorly documented maintenance history drives the price down.
Motorhomes experience steep depreciation in the first two to three years, often between 15 and 25% per year. After that, the curve flattens and a well-maintained model retains a more stable residual value. Around the sixth year, the annual depreciation can be only 5 to 8%. It is therefore important to look at the depreciation path of your specific model; luxury integral motorhomes often remain in demand longer than simple van conversions.
In Belgium, a motorhome typically covers far fewer kilometers than in Southern Europe. Twenty to thirty thousand kilometers on a ten-year-old camper is not unusual. A low mileage is therefore rewarded with a higher price, provided the mechanical condition is convincing. Note: a camper that has been stationary for years can just as easily develop hidden defects.
Moisture damage, delamination of the walls, or a poorly functioning refrigerator have a significant impact on value. Therefore, have major maintenance carried out in a timely manner and keep invoices. Potential buyers, or a certified buyer of motorhomes, have more confidence in a well-documented history. Even an older motorhome with a neat service booklet can surprisingly yield a good price.
Solar panels, a satellite antenna, cab air conditioning, or a recently replaced refrigerator make your motorhome more desirable. But be careful: the total weight must remain within the legal payload, otherwise an overly equipped vehicle can actually have a negative effect. If you are considering selling your motorhome, make sure all original accessories such as the awning and the television set are included, as this increases attractiveness.
The Belgian market is relatively small but stable. Popular layouts such as a low-profile model with two single beds or a queen bed at the rear sell quickly. Those who want to have their motorhome professionally appraised can turn to a motorhome purchase specialist. They look not only at the vehicle but also at regional trends. In Flanders, for example, we notice a growing preference for ecological modifications such as lithium batteries.
Are you unsure about the right asking price? Then request a no-obligation motorhome valuation. This way, you avoid setting your price too high or too low, and negotiations proceed more smoothly.

Our method
We combine a physical on-site inspection with a thorough analysis of recent completed transactions. This way, we take into account the specific condition of your motorhome, not general catalog values.
The Belgian market has local accents. In the Antwerp Kempen, we see high demand for spacious integrated models, while in West Flanders, light, maneuverable campers are popular. We buy throughout Flanders and know the price trends per region.
