Motorhome buyer Ghent: sold directly, paid fairly

Frequently asked questions about selling motorhomes

• Can I sell my motorhome to a private individual?▾

Yes, private sales can be done through online platforms or word of mouth. You would then have to advertise yourself, receive viewers, negotiate, and handle the paperwork. That takes time and brings uncertainty about the final price and payment.
• Does a motorhome need to be inspected for sale?▾

In Belgium, an inspection is not mandatory when selling a second-hand motorhome, but many buyers ask for it. When selling to a professional buyer, this is often not a requirement.
• What are the rules for campers in Belgium?▾

Campers and motorhomes must be registered with the DIV and insured with third-party liability insurance. For vehicles heavier than 3,500 kg, a C license is required. When parked on public roads, the camper must be insured and inspected.
• What does it cost to buy a motorhome?▾

The purchase price varies greatly: from a few thousand euros for an older model to tens of thousands for a new one. Additional costs include insurance, taxes, maintenance, and storage, often several hundred euros per year.
• How do I determine the value of my motorhome?▾

The value depends on brand, year, mileage, condition, and equipment. You can compare prices on sales sites or request a free appraisal from a buyer experienced with similar models.
• Will I get more for my motorhome with an inspection?▾

A recent inspection can increase buyer confidence but does not automatically guarantee a higher price. For a buyer who accepts all conditions, an inspection is rarely decisive.
