A Pilote that provides hot water but no warm air usually points to a faulty circulation pump or a stuck diverter valve in the Truma Combi.

A Pilote that provides hot water but no warm air usually points to a faulty circulation pump or a stuck diverter valve in the Truma Combi. With a completely silent heater, the causes are usually an empty gas bottle, a blown 12V fuse, or a circuit board that no longer passes on a signal. Start the diagnosis with the error code on the control panel and then check the gas pressure.
The Truma Combi in your Pilote combines a boiler and air heating in one unit, so a fault in one circuit often affects the other. A systematic check of power, gas, and electronics gives a quicker answer than randomly replacing parts.
Pilote installs a Truma Combi in most motorhomes, either gas or diesel. On more expensive models such as the Galaxy or Premium range, you may sometimes find an Alde water heating system that runs on gas and/or electricity. Each system has its own typical quirks, but the first steps are similar.
For a gas-fired Truma Combi: is there enough gas in the bottle or tank? Is the gas valve open? Sometimes the pressure regulator is frozen or blocked. For a diesel version: is there enough fuel in the separate tank and is the fuel pump audible during start-up? Also always check the 12V power supply: a weak leisure battery or a blown fuse can cause the fan or the circuit board to fail. Consult the general guide to motorhome heating for a full checklist.
Modern Truma appliances display a fault code on the control panel. Fault code E517H, for example, indicates a problem with flame detection, E101H a communication fault. Note the code and look up its meaning in the manual. On an Alde system, a light flashes on the panel or a message appears. Often a reset is sufficient, but if the code returns, there is a structural defect.
These amounts are rough ranges, depending on the model, year and workshop hourly rate. Always have a diagnosis carried out before ordering parts.
If the motorhome is older and several expensive parts need replacing at the same time, the bill can mount up to a large proportion of its current market value. Then also look at the market value of your motorhome. Sometimes it is financially wiser to sell it as is, especially if there are other faults.
