On many models, you can slightly loosen the hinge bolts, realign the door, and tighten them again. Use a torque wrench and consult the manual for the correct torque settings.
If the lock turns heavily or spins freely, the cylinder may be dirty or frozen. Spray a suitable lock spray or penetrating oil into the cylinder and gently move the key back and forth. Never use force, as the key may break off. With central locking, a faulty actuator could be the cause; it is often replaceable separately.
If the lock mechanism itself is worn or the cylinder is irreparably damaged, replacement is the only option. The costs depend on the type of door and lock. For a simple mortise lock, you typically pay between 100 and 250 euros including installation. A complete door lock with central locking can cost up to 400 euros or more.
