A Weinsberg where only cold water comes out after turning on the hot water tap usually has a Truma Combi or Truma boiler on board.

A Weinsberg where only cold water comes out after turning on the hot water tap usually has a Truma Combi or Truma boiler on board. Often the cause is an empty or unvented system, a faulty heating element or an electronics fault. Sometimes the boiler tank is simply scaled up or the 230V fuse is off.
The exact cause depends on the type of boiler and the energy source used (gas, 230V or 12V). A systematic check of power, water pressure and bleeding will usually quickly reveal the problem.
Weinsberg installs a Truma Combi or a separate Truma boiler in most of its campers. On the more expensive models, such as the Caracason or the Edition Pepper, an Alde heating system is sometimes used. Each system has its own typical faults, but the basic diagnosis is similar.
First, check whether the boiler is actually switched on and whether the desired power source is selected. When running on gas, the ignition may fail due to a dirty burner or an empty gas bottle. When running on 230V, the heating element is often faulty or the fuse has tripped. When running on 12V (only on some Truma Combi models), the battery may be too weak or there may be a wiring problem.
A common mistake is switching on the heating before the boiler is filled with water. On a Truma Combi, this can lead to a burnt-out element. So always check first whether water comes out of the hot water tap.
Start with the simplest checks: is the boiler switched on, is the fuse okay, is there gas or mains power, and does water come out of the tap? Listen to see if the boiler ignites (with gas you will hear a click and a flame, with electric often a relay). If the boiler gets hot but the water does not, there may be a mixer tap problem or a blocked pipe.

The cost of a repair varies. A new heating element often costs between 100 and 250 euros, a new circuit board can go up to 400 euros or more, excluding labour. With an Alde system, parts are generally more expensive. Sometimes it is more economical to replace an old boiler with a reconditioned one.
